A Breath of Fresh Air

Why does a deliberate and deep cleansing breath of fresh air feel so good?

So relaxing and invigorating at the same time

So peaceful and energizing all at once

I know because after a long morning of working without a break, I decided what I needed was to step outside and breathe some fresh air. Take some water out to the birdbath. Snip a few spent blooms off the petunias, zinnias and marigolds and other flowers around my yard. Listen to the chirping of sparrows in the tree waiting for me to leave so they could sip some just poured fresh cool water before the hot summer sun warmed up their water supply.

Just a moment to gaze at blue skies overhead

Just a moment to watch a white billowing cloud

Just a few minutes to enjoy the simple pleasures around me and those few minutes made all the difference. My attitude was much improved when I returned to the keyboard on my laptop. I worked with much more zeal than before I treated myself to a few refreshing moments outside.

My heart knew exactly what it needed. Oh the satisfying breathing in of beauty all around me. Fresh air is a balm for my soul. That is why it feels so good! This deep, cleansing breath of fresh air was God’s goodness to me today, and I am thankful.

Psalm 107:8-9
Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.

Still

My footsteps came to a halt and I stood still as I heard the first silence in a long day. I listened to the beauty of silence around me.

I stood still
I heard the silence
And it was beautiful
It was a balm to me
A song of serenity
A moment in time
When all the world slows down
And I can breathe
Deep
Into my soul
And know again
Who I am
I am His

Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth! Psalm 46:10

Mercy Each Morning

Lamentations 3:22-23
Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.

I am so glad we live in the grace and blessing that each new day is full of new mercy, and we can rise each morning knowing this, and this assures us of God's love for us and the security we have in our walk with Him.

I walk in mercy I never deserved and grace
that is rich and free because I am a child of God.

Morning
Is still a wonder to me
Each brand new day
A new beginning
A time to start over
Try again, do it better

Morning is when
Hope is..
Fresh, strong – renewed!

Morning and mercy go hand and hand with the Lord. Each new day, we wake up to a new morning, and we wake up to new mercy, a clean slate and a fresh start. God's lovingkindness offers us this every day. As morning rises each new day, so do God's tender mercies.

Psalm 145:8-9
The Lord is gracious and full of compassion,
Slow to anger and great in mercy.
The Lord is good to all,
And His tender mercies are over all His works.

This gift of mercy He offers to us is filled with kindness and compassion in all the love God has for us - maybe we can pass some on to others. Is there anyone you know who needs to be on the receiving end of mercy? Maybe God is calling us to offer a fresh start, a clean slate to someone who needs us to extend to them - this bountiful mercy God has shown to us.

To walk in this mercy is walking in the goodness of the Lord.

Psalm 23:6
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
