Everlasting Love

Many years ago, when I was a young wife and mother, I sat down with my Bible and spiral journal to take notes as I listened to a Christian radio program by Elisabeth Elliot. I was eager to take notes and learn more about the ways of the Lord and how to live the Christian life from a godly woman. She began in that deep radio voice of hers and said over the air waves, “You are loved with an everlasting love.”

I wrote that down at the top of the page of notes I was prepared to make while listening to her teach that morning. And I listened and diligently took notes.
You are loved with an Everlasting Love
The next day, I pulled out my spiral journal and turned to the section of notes from the previous day and began to listen to her program for the second time, and she said these stirring words at the beginning, “You are loved with an everlasting love.”  I wrote it down again, and the very next day - after I heard her repeat the same words for a third morning in a row, I determined that she must start every day with that opening, from the verse in Jeremiah 31:3. It was her regular opening every day for her program at that time.

I cherished that reminder every day that God’s love for me is unconditional, never failing, enduring, and full of compassion - because those are the qualities of God’s everlasting love for us. Elisabeth Elliot understood the value in those words and the gift in the message to her listening audience. She proclaimed this great love God has for us in every one of her radio programs.

How thankful I am to know I am loved with His everlasting love. And that great love washes over me and fills me up every single day of my life.

Today, let me be the one to tell you…
You are loved with an Everlasting Love
Jeremiah 31:3 The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying, “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving-kindness I have drawn you.”
