Audacious Rewards

I am currently reading Beth Moore’s new book Audacious. Included in the book is the important message that if you are wondering how to have a close relationship with the Lord, the answer is that you have to want it and you have to ask for it.

I first remember hearing her elaborate on that subject in Houston, Texas when I lived there and went to one of her teaching events at Houston First Baptist Church. She shared that people often ask her how does she have such a passionate relationship with the Lord. I am not sure but I think the year was 2001 or 2002, and I remember thinking how wonderful it was to hear someone describe experiencing that intimate relationship with God and that anyone can have it.

In the following years 2003-2005, I had the opportunity to do some volunteer work at Beth Moore’s Living Proof Ministries office, and I saw up close and personal the genuine and deep relationship she had with the Lord. She wasn’t just teaching it, she was living it. I wanted to live it too, which has been the driving force of my life, to walk closer with the Lord who loves me, saved me and is ever present in my life.

If Beth Moore can pursue it, and I can pursue it, that means anyone can. It isn’t complicated unless we make it complicated and we often do. And then we blame God when we think the closeness isn’t there and instead there is a distant feeling. It doesn’t have to be that way or stay that way.

It does take work. It requires pursuit. But there is no other relationship more worth the effort. The reward far outweighs the effort.

The reward is waking up in the morning knowing God is already waiting for you to go through the day with you.

The reward is going through the day knowing He is with you and nothing can separate you from His love.

The reward is having a kind of joy and peace that the world can’t begin to understand.

The reward is His Spirit working in and through you to change you and make you more like Him.

The reward is you are His and you belong to Him forever. This is a forever relationship you can count on. I think this is the best reward.

And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
