Not Always a Storm

I heard someone at a church once say that either you are currently in a storm, at the end of a storm, or getting ready to go into a storm – in referencing the difficult trials we experience in our lives.

I disagreed. And not because my life has been without storms and trials but because there have been seasons of storms, and there have also been wonderful seasons of calm.

We are not always in a storm or at the fringes of one.

Sometimes life is stable and calm. Sometimes life is just plain ole good and we should appreciate all its beauty.

There is great joy and delight to be had in a close relationship with God when everything is going along smoothly. We shouldn’t only draw close when we are in difficult circumstances. We should not fall into a pattern of only calling on the Lord for help when we are in a storm.

The important issue here is that we should consistently call on the Lord every day. When there is a storm and when skies are brilliant blue and the sun is brightly shining. Every day is a day to praise Him! Every day is a day to walk hand in hand with the Lord.

When the next storm comes, let Him be your refuge, hiding place, shelter in the storm. And when the storm is over, be grateful life is not always a storm. If life was always a storm, the sun would never shine.

Ecclesiastes 3:1, 4

To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:

A time to weep, and a time to laugh. A time to mourn, and a time to dance;
